Many have mentioned the relaxed atmosphere and warm welcome they encounter as they walk into The Center and up the stairs to the tranquil Yoga Power & Light studio. We're hoping this will be your experience on your yoga journey with us.

While some are comfortable stepping into a new studio or yoga class for the first time, many have questions about which classes to take, what to wear and generally how it all works. We want to make the transition from deciding to take a class with us to unrolling a mat in the studio as smooth as possible for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my first class at The Center? Come in at least 15 minutes before your first class to fill out a brief registration form. Dress comfortably with no binding clothing, you can bring a water bottle and small towel and put your shoes and turned off cell phones in a cubby prior to class. Do I need to preregister for classes? You can but you don't have to. If you'd like to set up an account through our secure online server click the green Purchase Classes or Sign In To Classes buttons on the right or the Login and Register links on the bottom of each page of this site. This will connect you to the MindBody site where you can register and explore at no risk. Preregistration is required for Workshops. You can also purchase classes and register for Workshops at the studio.

I took Yoga classes many years ago and would like to start up again - which classes do you recommend? Same answer as above.

I'm athletic and/or fit and would like to take a class that is active - which do you recommend? Astanga Flow, Flow, Synergy, Mindful Flow & Yoga Nidra and Vin Yin.

Which class do you recommend for someone who wants to work on form and posture? Synergy classes are infused with alignment cues and are paced to allow for settling into each pose.

I am overweight/underweight/out of shape/inflexible/old/young - can I still practice yoga? Yes.

Does yoga, including meditation, help with anxiety? Yes, it can be helpful with relieving stress and anxiety.

What are the colorful laminated cards on the windowsill in the studio? Some of our instructors ask students to place an Assist Card beside their mats if they're open to hands on assists of gentle repositioning in poses. We find this to be a respectful way to honor students' preferences. We're hoping to make this a studio-wide offering.

What should I wear to class? Comfortable clothing with nothing binding around the abdomen. Many classes include forward bends so consider wearing a shirt that will not move downward while you're in a bend.

Can I bring  a water bottle to class? Yes, but please remember to take it with you. Our Lost & Found cubby is filled with left behind water bottles 🙂

Do you sell water bottles? No, but you can fill yours with our filtered Downingtown water!

Do you sell mats or rent them? We sell Jade Yoga mats made from natural rubber, eko lite Manduka mats and Spiritual Revolution mats. You can also bring your own or borrow one of our used mats for free. If you borrow a mat please clean it when you're done with our supplies. You can also clean it before you use it as these mat are for use at your own risk 🙂

Do you offer hot Yoga? We are more of a warm studio than hot. However, the experience of temperature is different from person to person. Our more aerobic and athletic classes such as Astanga Flow, Flow, Vin Yin and Synergy are anywhere from 78-84 degrees while our Holistic Healing Yoga, Gentle, Mindful, classes are usually 75-78 degrees.
