"How to Teach Very Gentle Yoga" is a ten hour training which includes modifications, down-regulations, and use of props in a mat class that includes poses on the back, on the belly, side-lying, seated, from table and standing. It is a training for those who want to expanding their teaching to include an older, deconditioned, non-athletic, overweight and recovering from an injury crowd. A forty page manual is included which contains four complete lesson plans, hundreds of ideas for pose variations, resources and more.  There will be discussion on contraindications and ways to modify for those with bone issues, joint issues, weight issues, vertigo,  eye diseases, heart diseases and lung diseases. There will be an opportunity to practice teach, experience the pose modifications, and explore creative use of props. Judy will lead a 60 min class at the start of the training.  Ten CEUs for Yoga Alliance will be awarded. One participant said, “ wow, I got a hundred ideas in the first hour!”

Judy Curiel, Ph.D, E-RYT 500, began practicing yoga daily in 2004 and became a 200 hr certified instructor in 2008. She has been teaching very gentle yoga classes since 2007. She has been training teachers since 2010.  This training entitled How to Teach Very Gentle Yoga: Reaching Out to the Underserved Populations of the Non-Athletic Over 50, the Overweight and the De-Conditioned has been a creation that has been informed by her own practice, her decade of teaching this population and from her 2000 hours of study beyond her original certification.
